Girls End 5 Game Losing Streak
Freshman Caitlin Myers hit four 3-pointers against Cle Elum
One night after building an early lead only to see it disappear against Naches Valley, the Lady Leopards built an early lead and kept it against Cle Elum. Led in scoring by freshman Caitlin Myers who hit four 3-pointers enroute to scoring 19 points. Abbie Ziegler scored 13 points and Jen Nelson 11 points while Alisi Uasike scored 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds in the 67-39 victory. The SCAC West win left the Lady Leopards at 2-2 in the league and 5-6 overall.
The five game losing streak fortunately included only two league losses, a 55-45 loss to Mabton on December 19th paired with a 35-34 loss to Naches Valley on January 8th. Those two league losses were sandwiched around two losses in the Sun Dome Shootout, 51-43 to Newport and 36-20 to Lakeside, followed by a road loss to Connell 45-42.
Zillah will finish its first half of league play with two road games at Goldendale (1/15) and Granger (1/22), either team has yet to suffer a loss in SCAC West play. The Lady Leopards do have one final non-league contest on the season with White Swan on January 16th.
